Our Story
Dear Friend of American Legion Eastern Shore Post 199,
In 2020, Hurricanes Sally and Zeta devastated the home of American Legion Eastern Shore Post 199. In the difficult years that followed – through the aftermath of the storms, the COVID-19 pandemic, rising reconstruction costs, and countless other challenges – our members and supporters faced a choice.
We could dissolve the Post, or we could rebuild. We chose to rebuild.
With determination, sacrifice, and the support of a community that believes in our Veterans, Post 199 built a new home and restored our ability to serve. Today, we are not simply back – we are serving more Veterans than ever before in the history of Post 199.
We are extraordinarily proud of what we have accomplished. But our rebuilding mission is not yet complete.
Our new facility represented an investment of approximately $1.8 million. Our restaurant and other operations help support our programs and overhead, but the mortgage on our new home continues to consume resources that could otherwise be directed toward our Veterans, their families, our youth, and our community.
Our goal is straightforward: retire the mortgage as quickly as possible and put those resources back to work serving Veterans. Every dollar we can redirect from debt and interest payments is a dollar that can ultimately strengthen the mission of Post 199.
The concept is simple and uniquely tied to Post 199. We are seeking 199 Patriots who will commit to contributing a minimum of $50 each month, with those contributions dedicated to accelerating the retirement of our construction debt.
100% of Patriots Point 199 Club monthly contributions will be dedicated to accelerating the retirement of Post 199’s construction debt.
The Power of 199
Based on our current mortgage projections, these contributions are estimated to allow Post 199 to retire its mortgage at least 138 months earlier and avoid more than $522,000 in interest expense.
From Debt to Mission
Consider what that means. More than half a million dollars that could otherwise be spent on interest can ultimately remain at Post 199 – supporting the mission for which this Post and its volunteers exist.
It is not simply about paying a mortgage. It is about moving resources from debt to mission and freeing Post 199 to do more of what Post 199 was founded to do: serve Veterans, their families, and our community. Most importantly, it helps ensure that when a Veteran needs help, Post 199 is here to answer the call.

We invite you to become one of the 199 Founding Members of the Patriots Point 199 Club. Your minimum individual commitment is $50 a month, or $600 a year. But when joined with the commitments of 198 other Patriots, that gift becomes part of something so much larger.
Together, we will secure the future of Post 199.
